Considering that we started off with a head bang this session with Miss L. went pretty well. Another one of my "baby steps" babies turned 1! How time flies!!
She had this cool child size playbed that looked so fun. I love how she played peek-a-boo there! Now, the cake smash wasn't really a smash, Miss L. likes it clean and she was not game for rubbing cake all over her face. How funny!

To the Beach!

Some pics from our short trip to the beach over Easter. We went with good friends of ours and I used the opportunity to take some quick beachy pics of their lovely family.
I wish the weather would have been nicer. These were done the day we had to leave, the only sunny day we had. We had a good time anyways.

Our very first portrait party turned out to be a huge success. Definitely a different pace than the standard sessions I do but it was a blast. I 've got to meet so many awesome moms and their kids. I loved this session, what a fun loving family! We went down to the UT campus where dad works and I got to see so many places I haven't been to. What a cool spot for pictures, I'd love to go back there.
I realized that my face was hurting when I went through the preview on this session, I was smiling the whole time!
I love the pic of P. sitting on the steps with the "Core Purpose" sign in the background - a future big thinker. {Actually I think he was slightly upset about loosing his lollipop}

So this is another baby C., this cutie pie was 3 months old when they came to see me. He is just so adorable and gave us some great smiles. Love the pics with daddy where they are having a "conversation". He was a little too big for the baby cocoon but we thought we'll give it a try. What a beautiful family!

Happy Birthday Mr.H.! Another one of my "baby steps" babies has turned 1. Oh my, time flies! I had the pleasure of being there for his big birthday bash and it was fantastic. Mom outdid herself with all the decorations and just LOOK at this cake!
My favorite is the one where he's having a conversation with the monkey about when he might get his cake and I love the ones in the grass with his finger up in the air. It was one of his favorite games to play to greet everyone with his very own "one finger secret handshake"
H. had a great time and so did all of his friends. I'll have lots more pics to share when the edit is done. Thanks for having me and it was good to meet everyone!

Announcing a couple of upcoming mini session dates - these are great opportunities to get professional pictures done even if you don't have the time or funds to do a full-blown session right now.

All mini sessions are $50 (plus tax) and include the following:

- 30 min session
- 10 edited proofs in online gallery
- 1 free 5x7 print
- Choice of print packages and/or greeting card designs (please inquire for details)

Here is what dates I have planned:

"Easter /Springtime" (outdoors if the weather is nice, otherwise in studio, Easter/ springtime related props available but please feel free to bring your own to personalize)

April 5
"In the Bluebonnets"
Hopefully there will be some, location to be determined. Keep your eyes peeled and let me know if you see any good patches.

April 18 - "Mommy & Me"
Mother's day session - it's all about Mom and the kids - Studio session
Hey, Dads - need an extra special Mother's day gift? I will offer custom photo jewelry for this session - great gift idea don't you think? I have gift certificates available in any denomination (wink,wink)

And here's the fine print:
The sessions are scheduled first come first serve in 45 min intervals. If interested in booking a time slot for one of these please contact me with a preferred time and I will try my best to accommodate you.
With the exception of the "Mommy & Me" minis these sessions are children only sessions. Due to the 30 min time limitation, please make sure you arrive 10-15 min early so we can make the most of the time. Sorry, no outfit changes for these.

I love these folks, always have a surprise up their sleeves when they come in. This time they brought those awesome (giant sized) cowboy boots and hat as props. And on top of that I got to keep them. Thanks so much!
If you go back about 6 months - big boy C. is the same baby that was so comfortably snuggled into a football helmet as a newborn. Man, has he grown! He'll be a big boy for sure being that he's already into 18 months-old clothing at the tender age of 6 months! He's so adorable and always in a good mood. Thanks for another awesome session. I can't wait to "play" with the baby-in-boots pics and try out some different edits.

I've seen Miss C. a couple of times since she was born. It's always amazing to see how quickly babies change during the first year. It was quite chilly morning when we met but staying in the sun was helpful. I usually don't like shooting in full sun but it worked this time. Mom and Dad pulled out all the stops to try to make her smile. And we finally got to see those cute front teeth in a few of the shots. Now the profile shot of her and daddy is just hilarious, I think they are related;-)

Oh man, I must be loosing it. I could have sworn I had posted this sneak peek from over a week ago. Oooops, what a bad blogger I am.
Well, better late than never, here it is...
I seriously love this little baby boy. It's was his second session with me and he was so awesome again. Love, love, love that red hair and his baby blue eyes. On top of that he's got a great personality and made all kinds of cute little faces. Can't wait to see him again.

This session was awesome and quite different given that I usually chase toddlers around this park. I loved the gorgeous medieval dress that mom had made for a school project. What a great idea and I think the spot worked perfectly with the theme.
She looked absolutely beautiful in that dress. It was so cool to see the interaction with her big brother too. How encouraging that even in their teens big brothers/ little sisters are not just icky;)
Can you spot the peacock that walked into the frame just at the perfect moment? {Sorry, I sort of hid it under the watermark}

Brand new babe

I might have gotten a little carried away with this post. Just too many cute pics of this brand new baby boy. I promised big sis she'd see some more pictures soon.
This little one was born about a month early but he's doing wonderful. His mom has one of the hardest but probably also most rewarding jobs, she's a NICU nurse. It was very inspiring to learn more about it.
I love newborn sessions btw, there is always plenty of time to talk while the baby is feeding or we are trying to get him to sleep. It's one of the most relaxing sessions I do. This one was no exception, baby B. did great and we 've even got some cute shots with him and his big sister. He never got upset, just gave me the furrow brow every now and then.
So the session went off without a glitch but the trouble started when they tried to leave and their car went totally dead. Luckily, they made it home safe eventually.

I am so jealous of this little one's beautiful skin complexion. She really looked good in any color but her mom was right that the purple just looks fantastic on her. She had just turned 6 months old. (I love that age, just before they start motoring but so full of smiles and personality) She made the cutest faces and I love her serious observant looks with her lower lip all tucked in. Definitely a girl for the camera and so adorable. I know I have a thing for eyes (especially babies) but this one really had gorgeous eyes. There is just no other way to say it. I am in trouble pre-selecting images from this session, they are all worth keeping. Thanks for coming in guys!

This little one might look familiar to some, it's sweet baby A, my friend's second girl. It reminds me how fast time flies now that she's already 8 months old. No way! Sweet baby A. is the cutest. I love, love, love her eyes - the are so big and beautiful. She's following into her sisters foot steps of being a very active, energetic little girl. Poor mama was hoping for a more "laid back" version. I think this one will be walking way before her first birthday as well. Her sis started at 9 months!

Miss M. is a doll! Just look at her, a perfect little princess! We had fun exploring the park and she did wonderful! She's a hoot and so full of energy and personality. What a great age, she's just a little over two and just so much fun to hang out with.
And as for the weather, it couldn't have been more perfect, there's a Texas winter day for you. And who said you can't do outdoor sessions in January? This might just be the perfect time to get out before the heat will start to beat down on us again.

Ahh, Miss A., what a joy. She is so darn cute and gets more adorable every time I see her. She just turned the big 1 and is definitely on the move. What a fun session, A. did wonderful as always. I think I said this before, I love all of her expressions. Especially the first one with her in the tutu. It was just so fitting I had to put it into a valentine's card design.

Happy New Year to you all!

I didn't want to start off the year with this but here it goes: I am a little behind on my session edits;-(
I had dreams of being able to catch up during the holiday break and recover from the busy holiday season, and spend time with my family, and get my office organized, and, and, and ...well, when reality kicked in I must admit that I 've been a tiny bit too ambitious and not everything got done, really most of this didn't get done (except for spending time with my family which was really really high up on my list). So to make a long story short, the new year has started and apparently not much has changed. There are still only 24 hours in a day, my children still like me and want to spend lots and lots of time with me, and Santa didn't deliver on my wish for some permanent "live in" fairies that clean, cook and fold laundry.
So here is me trying to catch up on my to-do list...

Baby girl K. came to see me before Christmas. She is a serious hoot and I immediately fell in love with her. How can you not with this kind of cutenes!. She had just turned a year and was fairly new to the "walking on two feet" thing. She had the cutest little waddle. Lucky me, she has a serious obsession for chairs so it was actually easy to sit her down and snap away. That DOES NOT HAPPEN usually especially at her age. But she also taught me an important lesson - that it's OK to applaud yourself every now and then. So, YAY for me finally posting this sneak peek, more to come soon...

Another sneak peek that's way overdue - baby J. is one of my "baby steps" babies and it was so nice to see him and his family again. So adorable with his big round blue eyes. He's been working so hard on sitting up unsupported and he did a wonderful job. A little skeptical at first, he was all smiles once mom pulled out her secret weapon and started to sing "If you're happy and you know it".

Sneak peek - Seeing Double (Identical Twins)

Fun times two with these energetic twin girls. Being a twin myself I always love when I get a chance to photograph twins. With these two adorable girls it added a bizarre element in that they are identical and with the exception of one little bruise on one of the girls forehead I really couln't tell them apart. So in some of the pics I actually don't know who's who! (I hope that their mom and dad will know;)
Imagine a super active 15 months old toddler and take that times two. I think they enjoyed exploring the grounds and chasing the peacocks for a bit, while we were all more concerned about keeping them from falling into the lilly ponds and not getting totally muddy. Phew, mom and dad I don't know how you do it!

Handsome Mr. H and his family have been featured on here a couple of times. I had the pleasure of meeting them last weekend to mark baby H. 8 months milestone and get some family pics done. What a gorgeous fall day in Austin.
Mom always finds the cutest outfits! And doesn't he look so sophisticated with the hat? I think that's why I call him Mr. H.
Don't worry there are plenty of cute adorable christmas pictures of him, I just thought I'll include some of the silly ones too. I laughed so hard when I saw the face he was making (the one with the pillow). Just priceless! Mr. H. you crack me up!

I hope I am not ruining any Christmas surprises here but I had to include some pics from this little man's session. This was C. second session with me and boy has he grown! It took some effort and patience to get him to take a little cat nap but the pics we got are so worth it. It doesn't get any sweeter than that. He was even smiling in his sleep!
Mom has had a rough couple of weeks so I am hoping these pictures will put a big smile on her face when she sees them. Her story came as a little reminder to me to be thankful for all the things we take for granted. (just in time for Thanksgiving;)

This young man has a special place in my heart. For one he's super cute and has the most adorable blue eyes and dimples. He also reminds me a whole lot of my son. I've known him since he was just a couple of months old, which seems like yesterday and now he has turned into this little person with so much personality. This family session was right up my alley. I thought taking pictures of pets might be hard but this furry friend taught me an important lesson, bribes work for kids AND dogs. So once the rewards had clearly been communicated (treats for Roxie, icecream for the princess) we had everyone's attention.
And then the dancing, twirling and singing/ dramatic acting portion of the program started as soon as she had her pink dress on. Wow, I see a bright future in theater or show business for this young lady. I need to find one of these dresses for myself, so that I can put it on and start dancing whenever I feel a little down or stressed. Clearly, princesses do have more fun!
What a great session, beautiful family and perfect setting. Thanks for bringing such a relaxed attitude with you, it made for some great pictures, I think.

I've been MIA on the blog for a couple of days due to the sheer number of sessions I had lately, phew.My cheeks hurt (the ones in my face, of course) when I first previewed this session with baby girl R. You just can't help but smile the whole time when looking at her pictures, she is such a happy baby and had some great smiles and little smirks. What a great age, when they are just on the verge of starting to walk but can't quite run away yet and their eyes light up as soon as they see a smiling face. I wish I could have that time back with my daughter sometimes, especially when she's having one of those "4 going on 14" kind of moments. Mom and dad, enjoy it while you can! Great session, you'll have lots of cute pics to choose from!

2008 Holiday cards

Wow, where has time gone! The holidays are just around the corner (why is it still 90 degrees outside?!) and holiday photo sessions are in full swing. I am excited to have found an awesome set of templates to offer for this holiday season.

There is a total of 22 different designs with most in 2 different layouts so lots of choices and I am sure there is something for everyone in there. Most cards are 5x7 flat or folded cards but I have a few 5x5 trifolds as well, which are sure to stand out from the crowd. These are custom designed press printed greeting cards and text and colors can be changed so nobody will have the exact same card.

Better late than never, seems to be my mantra lately - so here's another sneak peek from sweet baby girl M. newborn session. She was right at two weeks and sure did not want to miss anything. Love her full head of dark hair!

Well, I didn't get everything done I wanted to but it's time to go night night and catch at least a couple of hours of sleep. We'll be heading out to PA to see family tomorrow. If I owe you a sneak peek or session edit I apologize for being late. I'll get to it as soon as we get back next week.

Sneak peek Baby girl M.J.

This was definitely one of the more action-filled newborn sessions I've done so far (and I loved every minute of it). Let's just say that all of baby's bodily functions were covered and dad was at the receiving end of most of them. Apparently there will be some talk about this on M.J.'s new blog with some photo coverage from our session this weekend. I'll have to check it out soon.

But besides her new found freedom M.J. did fantastic, even posed perfectly like a pro. I love the "generations" hand shot! More to come soon. It was so good to meet you guys!

What can I say, a true princess in the making. Miss A. has style and a really fun personality. Those baby blue eyes just sparkle like little stars. She brought some fun accessories for the photo shoot and lots of smiles. I love her serious look too, so sophisticated! And - I hate to admit it - but her toes were in better shape than mine.

I fell in love with her as soon as I met her. How can you not! Miss M. is so adorable and full of energy and personality. She immediately took my hand and walked off with me, that was amazing! We covered a lot of ground in under an hour, explored the cabin, climbed on a tree, played some peekaboo and hide and seek, threw some rocks and found some sticks, made some music and played a game of catch with a monkey. Phew, I am exhausted! You live life in the fast lane when you're 2! Happy Birthday princess and thanks for making it so much fun!

I've met this family of four earlier this week. Two adorable kiddos ages 2 and 1 with the most beautiful big eyes. This brother and sister team was having a grand time.

We've got to hang out at the park for a bit and play on the slides after heading back to their house for a few more front yard snaps. Thanks for having me!

Baby A. is practically part of the family, my friend's daughter just turned 3 months and of course we had to mark the occasion with a little photo shoot. She's so adorable with her infectious smile, big blue eyes and that fantastic hair do she's sporting has sparked many smiles and comments from friends and strangers alike. Needless to say - I love her! Happy 3 months baby A.!

I've met Baby C. last week for the first time. I always enjoy doing the maternity/newborn session combo as it allows me to meet the parents to be first. It is so neat to be one of the few to meet their smallest family addition so soon after birth and it's neat to witness the transition into parenthood. Well, there's really no transition, once they are there...they're there. Anyways, mom and dad seemed to be doing great and Baby C. was wonderful during the whole shoot. He didn't even mind when we put him into a football helmet (not any old football helmet, a Dallas Cowboys football helmet). He seemed to like it in there, I bet I know what this little boy will be playing when he grows up;-)

Hope everyone had a lovely Labor Day weekend! Hard to believe with the temperatures we are still having here but September has started and with that the holiday season is just around the corner. Fall is busy season for us photographers and I've tried to think of ways to make this season less stressful, more joyful (and enjoyable!). So for the months of September through November I am introducing a new Holiday Mini Session special.
Perfect if you just want to get some professional portraits of your family or just the kids to include with your holiday greeting cards or I offer high quality professionally designed and customized greeting cards with one or several pictures from your session that will wow your family and friends this year. Or how about getting some adorable pictures of your little "punkin" in their halloween costume? Let's face it those Halloween costumes are all darn cute but not cheap and they only wear them for one night so you might as well get a nice portrait and lasting memory of them.

Another sneak peek from last week. What a gorgeous family and beautiful setting. The kids are adorable and although they weren't too crazy about taking pictures we've got some little smirks out of them. Red hair, blue eyes, freckles and dimples - little girls don't come any cuter than that! And her little brother was so adorable in his suit and then sporting big sister's rain boots. I hope mom will appreciate some of the frowns too, I think they are so cute and SO real!

My second session with Miss C. was just as fun as the first one, although I was amazed how much she had changed in just 4 months. From this tiny human being that fit into a bowl to a happy little Miss "Sunshine" at 4 months. It reminds me how fast this first year of life goes and how important it is to remember all those precious moments.
Baby C. was showing off her latest hair accessories, she did really have a matching bow for every outfit! Soooo CUTE!!!

Big boy W. just turned 3! He has the most amazing blue eyes, I swear they are unreal. On his way to get some birthday cake we did this photo shoot at the Long Center. Unfortunately we were confined to shady spots, otherwise what a cool location for a shoot. Happy Birthday big boy and thanks for teaching me a thing or two about pirates!

Baby M. has so far been my youngest model, just barely 7 days old. She was so sweet and did wonderful at her first session. Daddy is a landscape designer so of course we had to put her into nature, and she fit in just perfect!
Despite just being 7 days old, I could tell, she had stolen her family's hearts already, including grandmom's. What a precious beautiful baby girl! Thanks for making me feel so welcome, I enjoyed our session very much.

Taste buds?

I was reminded that I haven't posted anything on a personal level in a while. So here is my question? When do taste buds develop? My daughter, who's 4 1/2, likes mostly bland foods, anything with even a hint of spices is adamantly rejected by her. So the other day, she wanted to make herself a sandwich. I am all for nurturing her independence so here she went... bread, peanut butter, a little hazelnut creme (Nutella, yum!), bananas - it all sounded pretty good so far. But then, the unthinkable happened, she decided to put some cheese slices right in there with all that sweet gooeyness. Shocking, I know. But she thoroughly enjoyed it and ate the whole thing. So, back to my question - when do the taste buds develop? Or am I missing out on something?

I am in awe, I've witnessed her transformation from a shy little girl into this stunningly beautiful, graceful, smart and super talented young woman. It seemed to have happened in a blink of an eye and it makes me realize that my daughter will go through this transformation too soon (and I know I won't be ready for it, granted she is only 4!)
Sophi, I know that the future will have great things for you in store. I wish you all the best, keep following your dreams and thank you so much for letting me capture this bittersweet moment in your life. This was so much fun!
